A passing return visit here on Wednesday 28th November 2007. The SSQ north of the airfield was photographed. We then made our way to the airfield itself, there is now no access, the usage has changed and explosives are tested there. The entrance is gated but a notice on the gate gives details of contacts who can give access to the memorial. A quick call and a short time later saw the arrival of Mr Mitchell-Smith who took us to the memorial. We were also fortunate enough to be shown, again by Mr Mitchell-Smith, the inside of All Saints Church in Faldingworth to view the window and other articles.

The first 19 photos are from November 2007

RAF Faldingworth was home to 1667 HCU and from 1943 300 (Polish) Squadron, 5 Group Bomber Command. During the V Bomber period the South West corner of the field was used as a Nuclear weapons storage facility. This compound still exists today and is still high security, its owned by BAe systems but I dont know what happens here now. The rest of the field is quite well preserved, the East west runway being virtually intact, as is most of the peri track. A B1 hangar is in existence and is well preserved. There is a memorial to 300 Squadron at the Eastern end of the East west runway. Further photos taken on Saturday 29th January 2005.
